I began sewing
at the age of 8 with
my Great
Grandmother. My
Great Grandmother
shared with me her
many skills like
sewing, basket
weaving, beading
while growing up on
the Makah
reservation.

Later I would use the sewing skill to
remake my clothing and then to create
clothes for my children. I would go to the high
end stores, look at the newest dresses, go
home to alter patterns to recreate what I
liked. I didn't have the funds to waste the
fabric scraps, so I would make hair bows,
trim socks, purses, doll clothes, and quilts.

I have finally taken the time to pursue
quilting in a proper manner. I joined a quilting
group at my local quilt store. These folks are
a wealth of knowledge and I look forward to
the many tricks of the trade and the stories
that come with them.
